What began as a modest interest, turned into a lifelong journey for our founder, Karel, whose fascination with camels led to the creation of this extraordinary sanctuary. Over the years, he built a remarkable flock and played a key role in preserving the camel breed in South Africa.

Today, Takara Oasis is home to 47 camels in Magaliesburg, with a larger caravan of 150 in Gobabis and Swakopmund. Visitors can experience camel rides, thrilling races, and immersive encounters with these majestic animals. Beyond the adventure, our luxurious spa and boutique accommodations offer a peaceful escape for those seeking relaxation.

Takara Oasis is adorned with three stunning murals, gifted from the heart by talented local Magaliesburg artists as a tribute to the sanctuary and its founders. Each piece tells a unique story—the outdoor sign was crafted by a traveling artist group, the reception mural welcomes guests with its vibrant charm, and a private mural in the house adds a personal touch of artistry.
